Enjoy sailing from the mighty ocean into a narrow fjord where the steep mountainsides have cascading waterfalls on both sides. When you look up, you will see the towering Jotunheimen mountains (with peaks more than 7,000 feet above the sea level), home of Norway's mythical trolls.

This is your chance to experience the fresh, crisp air and spectacular views on one of four limited edition sailings into Sognefjord. As spring approaches, the days become longer and lush green mountainside villages become greener - you will want to stay on deck forever. 

See, smell – and taste

As your voyage takes you past points of interest, out on deck there will be activities and lectures highlighting the sights and sounds of Sognefjorden. Food lovers may also enjoy taste of Hurtigruten's famous Norway's Coastal Kitchen where fresh local produce are collected from the passing farms, forests and waters.

To fully discover the region's aesthetic and cultural brillance, there are a range of optional pre-bookable excursions to enjoy on Day 2. 

  • JOSTEDALEN VALLEY AND THE NIGARDS GLACIER: Join a bus tour through the Jostedal Valley, with its traditional agricultural scenery. We go to Jostedal Glacier National Park, the largest ice field in mainland Norway, before we venture into Nigardsbreen Nature Reserve. We will make a stop at the Glacier Centre – Breheimsenteret with a view of the mighty Nigardsbreen Glacier in the distance. 3.5 - 4 hrs. (From $115 pp USD)
  • UNESCO URNES STAVE CHURCH: If you are interested in history and architecture, another picturesque drive take you to the UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed Urnes Stave Church. It was built around 1130, and is the oldest stave church in Norway. En route you will pass rugged mountains and past idyllic little villages. There will be a stop at Feigum to take photos of the impressive 715-foot cascading Feigum Waterfall. 3 hrs. (From $99 pp USD)
  • MOUNTAIN HIKE IN SKJOLDEN: Join a walk through the center of Skjolden to the very end of the Sognefjord. From here it’s just a short and easy hike through the unspoiled nature up to Sengjaberget (the Bed Rock) viewpoint some 400 ft above. On arrival you will be rewarded with an incredible panoramic view. 2.5 - 3 hrs. (From $82 pp USD)
  • FJORD FIB ADVENTURE: The last excursion brings you even closer to the water. Take your place in a secure and rigid inflatable boat (RIB), feel the breeze in your hair, and relax to music from the stereo as we go full speed ahead. 1 hr. (From $115 pp USD)

Voyage Itinerary

Day 1:Bergen

Embarking in Bergen, you may spend some time exploring this old Hanseatic city with its rich cultural life and intimate urban city center surrounded by seven mountains. The highlights include UNESCO World Heritage Site Bryggen, a stretch of wooden houses that was built in the Middle Ages, the buzzing fish market, and the Funicular going up to Mount Fløyen.

We depart in the afternoon, followed by a tasty dinner from Hurtigruten´s Coastal Kitchen and a welcome meeting as we sail north towards the Sognefjord.

Day 2:Sognefjord

Sailing into the Sognefjord, lectures on the history, geography, and culture of the amazing landscape that surrounds you will be held on board. At approximately 2 p.m. we arrive at the village of Skjolden. Here you may choose from a wide range of pre-bookable activities.

After your excursion, there will be more expert lectures available for you to attend. Then you can treat you taste buds with another dinner made of local produce.

Day 3:Bergen

Today you have the opportunity to see things you might have missed on your way in: The waterfalls and the remote farms clinging to the mountainside.

More lectures and Norway's Coastal Kitchen tastings are offered on deck before arriving in Bergen at 14:30 (2:30 p.m.).
